
The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has made it clear that the November 11 off-cycle governorship election in Imo, Bayelsa and Kogi states will be conducted despite the ongoing protest by organized labour
The Head of the Department of Voter Education and Publicity,INEC ,Imo State Emanuella Ben-Opara, said this while speaking with newsmen in Owerri.
Ben – Opara revealed that the Commission is working with the National Union of Road Transport Workers, NURTW ,who are not part of the Labour union adding that vehicles hired from the NURTW are on-site to facilitate the transportation of personnel and materials to all polling units.
According to her, all Registration Area Centers have been activated for the onward deployment of sensitive and non-sensitive materials on Friday night.
She allayed the fears of residents on a possible break down of law and order saying that security agencies have identified all potential flash spots, Ben-Opara and assured a peaceful exercise.
