…as plot to impeach Governor reportedly thickens.
Hoodlums suspected to be armed men on Sunday stormed the Rivers State House of Assembly and bombed the Assembly complex using improvised explosive devices ( IEDs).
A source at the assembly confirmed the incident to current matters late Sunday
Although the motive for the explosion is not yet known, sources who pleaded anonymity claimed that the explosion may not be unconnected with a raving impeachment plot against the Governor , Siminilayi Fubara by the House of Assembly led by Speaker, Martins Amaewhule.
According to one of sources, “all is not well between the Executive and the Legislature in the state .
“I have heard that there is an attempt to impeach the governor by the House of Assembly.I don’t know how true that is but tomorrow ( Monday) and the days after will tell. ” He said
The House of Assembly Complex is located at Moscow Road in the neighborhood of the State Police Command Headquarters, The Court of Appeal and the Nigerian Union of Journalists ( Ernest Ikoli Press Centre).
The development comes a few days after 5 commissioners appointed by Governor Siminilayi Fubara took oath of office after being screened by the House of Assembly.
