The Speaker, of Ekiti State House of Assembly, Rt Hon. Gboyega Aribisogan has been impeached .
The decision was taken at Monday’s plenary by 17 members who also elected a new Speaker, Hon Olubunmi Adelugba
Since the death of the former speaker of the State House of Assembly, Funminiyi Afuye, the House has been embroiled in some protracted leadership tussle.
It will be recalled that a few days after the ousted Speaker,Aribisogan was elected, there was trouble in the House resulting in its occupation by security agencies.
It was gathered that majority of the members suspected foul play in his emergence as speaker and decided to impeach him.
The House also suspended the former speaker alongside six others. They areTajudeen Akingbolu, Goke Olajide, Yemisi Ayokunle, Adeyemi Raphael Ajibade, Kemi Balogun and Tope Ogunleye
Meanwhile,Aribisogan has reportedly dismissed his impeachment and suspension claiming he remained Speaker.of the Assembly.
