A Federal High Court sitting iin Abuja on Tuesday sacked the Governor of Ebonyi State,Dave Umahi and his Deputy,Kelechi Igwe over their defection from the Peoples Democratic Party PDP to the All Progressives Congress APC
Delivering judgement in a suit brought by the Peoples Democratic Party PDP Justice Inyang Ekwo held that the governor and his Deputy cannot continue to occupy office after defection from the platform which they were elected.
The Judge held that since Candidates contest election on the platform of political parties,the votes and victory in the election belong to the party and not the candidate.
Consequently, He ordered that Governor Dave Umahi and his Deputy should vacate office immediately having defected to another political party and directed the PDP to present the runner up of the primary or conduct fresh primary.
