, Orders FG to Refund Money Deducted
A Federal High Court sitting in Abuja on Wednesday barred the Federal Government from deducting money allocated to Rivers State from the Federation Account to fund the Police and other agencies not listed in the constitution.
Declaring the deductions as unconstitutional, the Court ordered the refund of all monies deducted so far belonging to the State .
Justice Ahmed Mohammed made the pronouncement in a judgement on a suit filed by the Rivers State Government against the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, the Accountant General of the Federation, the Revenue Mobilisation, Allocation and Fiscal Commission, and the Federal Ministry of Finance.
