Rotary Club Takes Economic Empowerment Programme To Rivers Community, ,Donates Grinding Machines,Money To Traders 

As part of efforts to boost community economic development, the Rotary Club of Port Harcourt East has donated four Food grinding machines and the sum of twenty thousand naira each to nine petty traders in Obio Akpor local government area.

The President of Rotary Club of Port Harcourt East, Prince Nelson-John while handing over the sum of one hundred and eighty thousand naira to nine petty traders and four food grinding machines to four different small business owners said the gesture is part of Rotary International’s area of focus to support and promote economic and community development and reduce poverty.

On his part, member of the council of past President of the Rotary club of Port Harcourt East, Dr Chieleme Elenwo advised the beneficiaries to avoid selling off the machines and use it for the purpose of boosting their businesses and providing for their families. He said Rotary will continue to improve the lives of members of its host communities through developmental and sustainable projects.

A widow who is one of the beneficiaries of the food grinding machine, in tears told our correspondent that the gesture is an answered prayer, “I’m a widow, I have been catering for my family since my husband died last year. Just recently I was praying to God to provide so I can get this exact food grinding machine I got for free here. Because I sell fresh tomatoes and pepper I felt owning it will be an added advantage to my business. See me here today with my prayer request answered through the Rotary club of Port Harcourt East!,” she said in tears.

Another petty trader who benefitted from the food grinding machine said it will boot his business and brings more profits to him, while nine small scale business owners who received twenty thousand naira each said they are overwhelmed by such free cash without repayments as this with go a long way in boosting their trade and reducing poverty amongst them..

Our correspondent Precious Ahiakwo-Ovie reports that the food grinding machine donated by the Rotary club of Port Harcourt East to four indigent traders in Obio Akpor LGA is worth seven hinder and fifty thousand naira each.
