
The High Court in Kaduna has discharged and acquitted the leader of the Islamic movement in Nigeria, Sheikh Ibraheem El- Zakzaky .
El- Zakzaky and wife Zeena were arrested on December 12, 2015 following a bloody clash between the Shi’a movement led by El-Zakzaky and soldiers in the entourage of the then Chief of Army Staff,Lt Gen. Tukur Burutai in Zaria.
They were accused of culpable homicide, disruption of public peace and unlawful assembly ,
Upholding the no- case submission filed by El Zakzaky’ s lead counsel,Femi Falana , Justice Gideon kurada argued that the witnesses presented by the prosecution counsel had been unable to establish a connection between the charges and the defendant .
