Covid-19: Phillipine President, Duterte threatens to jail people who refuse to be vaccinated 

Phillipine President, Rodrigo Duterte says he will jail people who refuse to be vaccinated against the coronavirus.

Duterte threats comes as his country battles outbreak of the pandemic with more than 1.3 million cases and 23,000 deaths.

Duterte in a televised address on Monday following low turnouts at various vaccination sites in the Capital, Manila declared” You choose, vaccine or I will have you jailed”

The President said his position was largely informed by the crisis in the country adding” I’m just exasperated by Fillipinos not heeding the government”.

Though the threat is seen as authoritarian and at variance with health officials who see the vaccination as important but said it was voluntary.
