Court convicts ex- lawmaker, Farouk Lawan for Otedola’s Dollar bribe 

A Federal High Court sitting in Abuja on Tuesday sentenced ex- Federal lawmaker, Farouk Lawan to 7 years in prison for collecting ,$500,000 bribe from businesman, Femi Otedola

The court found Lawan guilty of 3 count charge of corruption for asking and obtaining bribe to remove Otedola’s company, Zenon Petroleum and Gas Limited from the subsidy scam under investigation by the House of Representatives.

Delivering judgement, the trial judge, Justice Angela Otaluka ordered lawan to refund the $500,000.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission EFCC had in 2012 charged Lawan,a four term member of the House of Representatives with collecting$500,000 of a $3 million bribe he solicited from oil magnate,Femi Otedola,to drop his company from investigation.
