The spate of Insecurity in NIger state has grown from bad to worse as bandits spread their dragnet to the doorsteps of vulnerable children and traditional rulers.
Gunmen early Sunday,stormed the ancient city of Zungeru in Wushishi Local Government Area of the state and took away the Madakin Zungeru and his two wives.
Current matters gathered that the gunmen number about 20 invaded the town at about 1.30a.m and walked straight to the residences of the Madakin Zungeru the community leader.
The Community obviously alerted by the presence of the gunmen raced to hide in the room of one of his wives but unfortunately captured by the criminals who took him away into the bush with his two wives.
The Zungeru attack comes few days after the abduction of 163 students from neighbouring Tegina.
The town hosts the federal government’s 700 Megawatts hydro electricity dam under construction.
Zungeru equally hosts a Chinese firm, Messrs CNEEC Sino hydro handling the,700 Megawatts hydro dam.
Information reaching current matters reveal that only the community leader and his wives were taken away in an operation that lasted less than an hour with heavy shooting
It was learnt that staff of the Chinese firm scampered away from the firm premises on hearing rumours of impending attack on the community.
So far, no contact has been made to the family of the abductees to inform them of the next line of action just as the villagers look forlorn and only pray for the day criminal elements will get behind them.
Ismaila a resident of Minna said the Insecurity situation is getting out of hand.
” Recently, a friend of mine who was leaving his village Baro for Minna when he along with others were asked to come down from the vehicle by hoodlums.
” They were lucky to escape from the bush the armed men dragged them into after everything they had on them was taken away
” If this thing continues unchallenged, then Nigeria is in trouble and going down” he said
