Alvan Ikoku College of Education, Owerri, Imo State was thrown into confusion and mourning following the death of a senior lecturer identified as Mr Echetama in the classroom.
Joseph Okwulehi Acting Spokesman of the institution who confirmed the death to newsmen in his office on Wednesday, said the lecturer slumped in the classroom on Tuesday and was confirmed dead at the Federal Medical Centre, ( FMC)Owerri.
Okwulehi said the provost of the college was preoccupied with series of meetings over the death
Echetama was a senior lecturer in the Department of Business Education.
Current matters gathered that his death has caused fear among the staff and students of the school as many vacated their hostels and scampered from classrooms following rumour that the lecturer might have died from coronavirus
Meanwhile, the management has advised the staff and students of the institution to be calm and wait for the official position of the institution on the issue.
