Hundreds of residents in Lokoja, the Kogi State capital on Sunday morning , invaded the warehouse for covid-19 palliatives in the state and did justice to the items carefully stored.
The looters comprising mainly women and youths reportedly invaded the warehouse located along the Murtala Mohammad way between Saturday morning and Sunday and carted away many items.
Eye witness said in course of rushing to enter the warehouse when the gate was opened, there was a stampede and no fewer than 3 looters fell and died while scores were wounded.
However, the state Commissioner for Information and Communication, Kingsley Fanwo dismissed reports of deaths but said a few persons who sustained injuries were treated.
Fanwo noted that the state governor was pleased with the orderly conduct of the looters.
