The Edo State House of Assembly has reportedly impeached Frank Okiye as Speaker .The House has elected Marcus Onabun as new Speaker.
Okiye, representing Esan North- East constituency 2 is a staunch supporter of Governor Godwin Obaseki.
He along with six others had on the Assembly’s business session for the second quater of 2020, on October 6, decamped to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP )to identify with the developmental goals of the Obaseki’s administration.
Although details of the impeachment are sketchy, the new Speaker ,Marcus Onobun representing Esan West was the Deputy leader of the House and chairs the Commitee on Infrastructure.
