Minister of Mines and Steel Development, Olamilekan Adegbite ,has announced that the ministry is working on a law that would make exportation of minerals illegal in the country.
A statement by the minister said that value will be added to minerals mined across the country.particularly iron ore in a bid to avoid the repeat of the mistakes made in the oil and gas sector.
Adegbite stated that mining before independence was the main stay of Nigeria’s economy as resources were used to develop infrastructure in oil and gas sector
He said that that is why the ministry is also developing a downstream policy for the exportation of raw ore in the mining Industry to boost the country’s export quota.
