Five farmers killed in Katsina village.
Unspecified number of gunmen suspected to be Fulani bandits stormed Yanteba village in Malumfashi local government area of Katsina State killing 5 farmers.
The attack which was said to be a reprisal,took place in the early hours of Thursday.
Police spokesman in the state,Gambo Isah confirmed the incident and said the bandits stormed Yanteba village at about 3:00 am on Thursday and started shooting their guns which led to the death of the farmers.
Isah said the bandits came to the village on a reprisal attack following attack on their three brothers by youths of Yanteba village two days ago.
According to him, the youths of Yanteba village saw three herders passing through their village and they gathered and attacked them which led to the death of one person , two others who sustained injuries were rescued by a police officer from Malumfashi Division.
He said”Two days after the attack on the Fulani youth, the bandits came for a revenge mission where they killed five people.”
Isah called on the citizens of the state to stop taking laws into their hands by arbitrarily attacking herdsmen but rather inform security agents about movement and whereabouts of bandits
