Tragedy struck the ever busy Ihiala- Onitsha road on Sunday evening when a commercial bus with many passengers went up in flames burning all passengers beyond recognition.
The cause of the incident has been linked to overspeeding.
Current matters gathered that one of the tyres of the bus burst while the vehicle was in motion causing it to somersault before it went up in flames burning all passengers.
Confirming the incident to newsmen, the Spokesman of the Federal Road Safety Corps, Anambra State Command,Kamal Musa said “the incident occurred opposite Omorka,in Ihiala on Ihiala- Onitsha road as a result of excessive speeding leading somersault and the vehicle burst into flames burning all passengers on board to death beyond recognition along with the bus.”
According to him, the number of casualties were yet to be ascertained adding that the corpse of a male who jumped out of the bus in the process has been deposited at a morgue while a combined team of FRSC and Fire Service
were on ground to ensure free fllow of traffic.
