A 48 year – old pastor, Nduka Anyanwu accused of defiling and mpregnating two sisters, pleaded guilty to a two count charge of defilement on Wednesday before a Yaba Magistrate Court in Lagos.
Following Anyanwu’s guilty plea to both charges, the Chief Magistrate,Mrs A.Adedayo remanded him in a custodial center and adjourned the case to September 15 for further hearing and sentencing.
The Police prosecutor,Roman Unuigbe had told the court that the defendant committed the offences in June at Oshodi area of Lagos.
He stated that the defendant,who is a pastor,had slept with the two sisters,aged 17 and 13 on several occasions and impregnated them.
Unuigbe further said that the defendant allegedly defiled the sisters at the church complex under the pretext of holding prayer sessions with them.
The offences, according to him,contravene section 137 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State,2015.The section stipulates life imprisonment for defilement of a minor.
