The Guberbatorial election Petition tribunal has set aside the victory of Duoye Diri as governor of Bsyelsa state
In its ruling, the tribunal held that under the electoral act, INEC has no powers to disqualify any candidate for any election.
It ordered the Commission to take steps within 90 days to organise fresh elections in Bayelsa State
The decision of the tribunal has come as a great shock to many particularly in Bayelsa State where the people were gradually settling down to the idea of a democratic arrangement in which the PDP secured victory through the intervention of the courts.
Recall that the APC had won 6 out of 8 Local Government Areas in the last election.
There are indications that Governor Diri may challenge the outcome of the tribunal..
