Senate gives reasons why it can’t investigate lawmakers indicted by NDDC., reveals fresh probe against Pondei 

The Senate Committee on Ethics, Privileges and Public Petitions says it will not be investigating Senators indicted in the alleged contract scam at the Niger Delta Development Commission NDDC.

Chairman of the committee, Senator Ayo Akinyelure who made this known while speaking to newsmen in Abuja over the weekend, said that the NDDC Forensic Audit Committee refused to provide relevant details that could be used in investigating lawmakers indicted by the agency to have collected multi-billion naira contracts.without executing them.

He said the probe of a fresh petition against the Acting Managing Director of the NDDC,Prof, Daniel Pondei would begin in September when the National Assembly resumes from annual vacation

According to the Senator, members would need sufficient time to study all the allegations contained in the petition

The Minister of the Niger Delta Affairs Godswill Akpabio had in July listed names of Some National Assembly members said to be beneficiaries of the NDDC projects.
