PUMA has terminated $2.67 million sponsorship and licencing contract agreement with the Athletics Federation of Nigeria AFN.
Citing what it referred to” as consequences of recent developments particularly at the Tokyo Olympics game 2020, and pursuant to Clauses 9.2 and 7.3 of the agreement, we hereby terminate the agreement” it said.

It was alleged that PUMA donated kits to the Nigerian contingent but the offer was rejected by top officials who preferred to buy inadequate sports kits for the team.
A member of the Nigerian team was captured on social media washing the only jersey he was given to wear for the next competition.
