A Magistrate Court in Kano on Monday, sentenced two men, Mohammed Sani 24 and Sadam Ali 27,to 12 strokes of the cane each for being in possession of hard drugs including Indian hemp .
The Magistrate, Farouk Ibrahim, ordered that the defendants be given 12 strokes of the cane each after they pleaded guilty to the crime and prayed for leniency
The Prosecution Counsel, Mohamed Bichi had told the Court that the defendants committed the offence on December 21 at 9:pm at Plaza,Ragge Local Government Area of Kano State.
According to him,a team of police officers attached to Fagge Division arrested the defendants with 10 sachets of Rohypnol,a substance suspected to be illicit drug,one wrap of Indian hemp and a bottle of liquid substance suspected to be intoxicant adding that the offence contravened Section 403 of the Penal Code
