Ahead of the 2027 general elections,former Commissioner of Works in Rivers State,Dax George – Kelly Alabo has reportedly thrown his hat in the ring for the office of governor.
Kelly,a member of the political team of the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory,Mr Nyesom Wike has reportedly picked his expression of interest and nomination form.
The development comes a few days after some allies of Governor Siminialayi Fubara bought forms for him to seek re-election
The former candidate of the APC in the 2023 governorship election,Arch Tonye Cole has also expressed his interest in contesting the next election and he is said to have bought his own form.
For the Peoples Democratic Party PDP in the state, the name of the minority leader of the PDP in the House of Representatives,Hon Kingsley Chinda is being whispered to fly the party’s gubernatorial flag in the next election.
Some individuals including serving and new persons are also picking forms for the National and State House of Assembly.
They include a former Deputy Governor, Senator Ipalibo Banigo, for Rivers West Senatorial District,Sen Alwell Onyeso for Rivers East and a former chairman of the PDP in the state,Mr Felix Obuah also for Rivers West Senatorial District.
The APC has announced that the sale of forms will run until midnight on Wednesday,May 6 . It is expected that more aspirants will pick up forms before the deadline.
