The Nigerian Army says troops of the 33 Artillery Brigade, working alongside operatives from the Office of the National Security Adviser, carried out a coordinated assault on bandit hideouts within the Dajin Madam Forest in Bauchi State recording significant gains.

The operation led to the destruction of several camps, including the notorious Azuge and Hari camps, significantly disrupting the operations of armed groups in the area.

During the raid, a number of bandits were neutralised, while others fled under sustained military pressure.

Troops also took into custody 19 individuals comprising six women and 13 children identified as family members of the fleeing suspects.

Multiple motorcycles used by the bandits for movement, were also destroyed further weakening their mobility.

Recovered items included an AK-47 magazine, packs of tramadol, a police uniform, several military uniforms, and two horses—suggesting efforts by the criminals to impersonate security personnel and facilitate illegal activities.

The Army confirmed that troops have established a firm hold in the Dajin Madam Forest to consolidate gains and prevent the return of displaced fighters.

In a related operation, troops advanced to Mainamaji following recent air strikes on bandit enclaves.

No contact was made during the follow-up mission, indicating that sustained military pressure has significantly reduced the presence and movement of bandits in the area.

The Nigerian Army reiterated its commitment to maintaining pressure on criminal elements until peace and security are fully restored, while urging members of the public to support security agencies with credible intelligence.
