Rivers State Governor,Sir Siminialayi Fubara has described the screening exercise on the new commissioners as one of the most rigorous.
Speaking during the inauguration of five of the commissioners confirmed by the State House of Assembly on Monday,Gov Fubara said having gone through such tough exercise,he would not further charge the new commissioners but wished them the best in their service to the state.
” Ordinarily,Iam supposed to charge you on your responsibilities and how to operate but that has been taken care of by the screening at the Assembly. I believe that going through one of the most rigorous screaming,it is enough to say that for those of you who succeeded, you are fit and ready to deliver to our dear state
” Sp, there is no further charge. The charge, the screening was the charge, so I wish you the best as I don’t expect anything less than the best from you.
The five were commissioners —- Mr Tonye Bellgam,Prof Temple Nwofor,Dr Peters Nwagor,Mr Lekue Kenneth and Sir Amarigha Edward Hart took the oath of office administered on them by David. D. Ihua – Maduenyi, the Chief Registrar, High Court of Rivers State.
Recall that the five commissioners were part of a list of 9 nominees as commissioners and members of the state executive council sent to the Assembly by Governor Fubara early in the month.
They were invited to appear for screening on Monday,9th March by the House . However, four of them were screened out following what the lawmakers cited as inconsistencies in documentation, non tax payments and petitions among others.
The governor is expected to send in a new list of nominees for screening to fill up vacant positions in the state executive council.
