As Assembly Asks Chief Judge To Probe Gov Fubara

Following the resumption of impeachment proceeding by the Rivers State House of Assembly against Governor Siminialayi Fubara on Friday, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Political Affairs,Mr Darlington Orji has alleged that the Assembly led by Martins Amaewhule each received the sum of N350m for constituency projects without asking for appropriation
Orji ,who spoke on Arise TV stated that while the governor extended the N100,000 bonus ,the same he gave to civil servants to the lawmakers as a way of appreciating them at the end of the year , some of the lawmakers immediately” rejected it that it was not appropriated “
According to him it was unfair that the lawmakers could raise questions about the N100,000 while keeping mum on the large sum they received without budgetary provisions
” They rejected it that it was not appropriated. You cannot build something on nothing now you rejected because N100,000 was not appropriated, can you ask them, please siir, the N350million naira that was given to each of them for their constituency projects, where did it come from? Why did they not reject it since it was not appropriated?
Orji also dismissed as untrue the narrative that the governor evaded the impeachment notice served by the House saying ” Gov Fubara has nothing to fear and is currently in the state The allegation that Governor Fubara appointed individuals without clearance from the state assembly is completely false.
Meanwhile, the lawmakers who failed to resume plenary Thursday placing the house under lock held plenary Friday where 25 members including the four who earlier spoke against the impeachment took a stand to continue with the process of impeaching the governor.
The Assembly has passed a resolution requesting the Chief Judge of the state to probe Fubara and his Deputy,Ngozi Odu in line with Section 188 of the 1999 Constitution ( as amended).
