
House of Reps has issued a 7 day ultimatum to the Inspector General of Police(,IGP) Mohammed Adamu , to appear before its Joint commitee on Justice, Human Rights and Justice over allegations of police brutality and extra-judicial killings.
The Chairman of the committee of the Joint commitee ,Mr Ugonna Ozurigbo, while addressing a meeting of the committee said that the IGP is expected to appear next Thursday, October 22,2020.
The lawmaker wants victims of the disbanded Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) to furnish the committee with information that would enable it carry out its assignment
The commitee plans to conduct public hearing in the six geo-political zones of the country to hear the account of families of victims and those unlawfully detained by the defunct police unit.
