Nurses declare 3- day warning strike in Lagos

The Lagos State Chapter of the National Association of Nigerian Nurses and Midwives has declared a three- day warning strike from Monday January 10 to demand better conditions of service from the state government.

The Chairman of the association , Julius Awojide said this at an emergency congress in Lagos on Saturday, January 8,2022.

Awojide decried the plight of nurses and the state government’s insensitivity which has resulted in the movement of professional nurses to better climes.

He said that the council decided to embark on a warning strike after efforts to call the attention of the government to address the issues promptly failed..

” In our estimation, the Lagos government is yet to fully come to terms with how incredibly challenging the situation in the health sector has been for our members especially in the last two years.”

Awojide added that the warning strike was important to inform the government that the nurses would no longer be overworked undervalued and underpaid without any consequences.
