As President Muhammadu Buhari arrived Owerri, the Imo State Capital on State visit.the People of Imo state stood to give their guest a befitting welcome.
The President who spoke on seeing what the governor, Senator Hope Uzodinma wanted him to see applauded the developmental strides of the governor .
Buhari commissioned landmark projects by the Uzodinma’s administration and said that infrastructure was the tonic for development of the state as it was the easiest means of making the people to mind “their own business”. assuring that since provision of Infrastructure was in line with his administration’s objectives, he would do what he can to support Imo State.
The proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra ( IPOB) had ordered a sit-at home for all residents in Imo and adjourning states however, residents of Imo defied the order and turned out enmasse to accord the president a rousing welcome l
Some of the projects commissioned include a 6.5 kilometer dual carriage road along Nekede, the Egbeda- Amakohia bypass and the newly constructed Executive Council Chamber of Government House Owerri.
Shortly after that, the President moved to meet with political leaders drawn from the 5 South- East states at the Government House Banquet Hall..
Governor Dave Umahi of Ebonyi State was the only governor from the South East that accompanied Uzodinma to welcome the president.
