The Presidential candidate of the National Democratic Party NDC,Mr Peter has clarified allegations made by the Anambra State Government that the state is still making payments on loans obtained by previous adminstrations including those of Obi and Willie Obiano
The statement by the Commissioner of Finance,Izuchukwu Okafor in a podcast triggered response from Obi,a former Governor of Anambra State on X on Monday, September 14,2026.
He wrote:
“I left office as Governor nearly 13 years ago. On the day I left office, I was not owing any salaries, pensions, gratuities or any money that the Anambra State Government was supposed to pay. I did not owe a single supplier or contractor. If you find even one person I owed, I will end my 2027 campaign today.”
The development has stirred reactions in social media with many users claiming the Soludo administration’s deliberately stoking fire where non existed to smear Obi’s image ahead of the January 2027 Presidential election.
” Soludo we know very well that he’s working for Tinubu will do everything to indict Obi if he has found anything against him. But since he couldn’t find anything he resulted in telling cheap lies………”
However,others expressed mixed feelings about the whole blame game advising politicians to grow up.
