Police In Anambra Arrest Suspected IPOB Member ,Armed robbery Syndicate

The Anambra State Police Command has arrested a suspected member of kidnap, robbery and car snatching syndicate in Okpoko, Ogbaru LGA.

The Command’s Spokesman, Tochukwu Ikenga, disclosed this in a statement on Thursday.

Ikenga said that the 43-year-old male suspect, was allegedly a member of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra.

“Police operatives attached to the Rapid Response Squad Awkuzu arrested another criminal gang member, male, 43 at Okpoko, Ogbaru local government in the early hours of Wednesday.

“During the operation, the operatives recovered one AK-47 rifle, one pump-action gun, two AK-47 magazines, 88 rounds of ammunition, two face masks, and two hand gloves,” Ikenga said.

He explained that the feat was achieved following the confession of one of the gang members who has been in police custody.

He also mentioned that he told the police how they handed over their firearms to the first suspect for safekeeping after each kidnapping operation. He said that the first suspect admitted receiving returns from the proceeds of ransom collected from kidnapped victims.

Ikenga added that the suspect was assisting the police to apprehend other fleeing members of the gang and possibly recovering additional firearms.
