Operatives of the EKiti State Police Command have recovered a three- day -old baby delivered on Sunday at Okeiyinmi health centre Ado Ekiti who was stolen on Monday
The State Police Commissioner, Joseph Eribo told journalists that the culprit, 34 year- old Deborah Ayeni came in Sunday evening with a fake pregnancy, was admitted and stayed close to the woman with a new born baby. According to him, the suspect slept over and on Monday morning when the lady went to the convenience, and the husband was outside, she stole the baby and left.
Investigation brought the police to a supermarket where a cctv camera which showed her gave the police a clue which led to her arrest.
The culprit disclosed that she stole the baby because she had a miscarriage in March and was afraid she would loose her husband based in UK if he found out that she lost her pregnancy.
The baby has been reunited with the family while the culprit who is in police custody will soon be charged to court.
