Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, has relieved Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, of her position as the Chairman, Senate Committee on Diaspora/Non-Governmental Organisations.
Akpabio named Senator Bassey Aniekun Etim (Akwa Ibom -East) as her replacement.
The Senate President, made the announcement during the plenary in Abuja on Thursday
Akpoti – Uduaghan,( PDP Kogi – Central)was suspended by the Senate for six months in March for breaching Senate rules , but Justice Binta Nyako of the Federal High Court in Abuja reinstated her . The judge held that the Senate went too far in its decision to suspend Akpoti – Uduaghan for six months – an outright ejection of Natasha from the Senate’s Legislative duties
The suspended lawmaker, previously chaired the Senate Committee on Local Content before Akpabio reassigned her to the Committee on Diaspora/NGO, .
