The Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission RSIEC is about now presenting Certificate of Return to the newly elected Local Government Council Chairmen in the state.
On October 5 2024, RSIEC under the leadership of Justice Adolphus Enebeli conducted election into the twenty three local government councils in the state.
The state electoral body declared Saturday that the Action Peoples Party APP won twenty two council seats and said that the collation of result for Etche Local Government council was still going on.
On Sunday,,the candidate of the Action Alliance AA,Mr Uzodinma Nwafor was declared the Chairman- elect of the council seat in Etche
The new Chairmen are to be sworn- in by Governor Siminilayi Fubara at 4pm Sunday.
Recall that the two major parties, the All Progressives Congress APC and the Peoples Democratic Party because of internal crisis did not field candidates in the election seen as credible and exemplary in the country.
The Nigerian Police also was restrained by a court order from deployment of personnel to provide services during the election.
