
At least fifty people were reported killed in an attack on Ayati village in Ukum Local Government Area of Benue State on Thursday night.
Current matters gathered that the clash happened after a failed attempt by terrorists herders to secure a grazing area for their cattle after reaching a monetary agreement with some local bandits.
In July, eleven persons were murdered by bandits in cold blood igniting a violent protest of which the government declared a dusk to dawn curfew.on the Local Government Area.
According to Amnesty International, the herders and farmers clashes in Benue resulted in the death of more than 2,800 people between January 2023 and February 2024.
