The member representing Bonny Constituency, Victor Oko Jumbo has emerged as a factional Speaker of the Rivers Assembly thus enthroning another round of political crisis amid what critics described as a draconic Peace deal brokered by President Bola Tinubu between Governor Siminilayi Fubara and Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory FCT.
The development comes months after a similar incident in the House of Assembly occured giving rise to the Edison – Ehie led leadership of the House.
The birth of the factional leadership of Oko Jumbo may not be unconnected with recent drum beats of impeachment of Gov. Fubara dangled before the Martins Amaewule Speakership by the All Progressives Congress APC Caretaker Committee led by Tony Okocha who doubles as the Rivers Representative on the board of the Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC
Also, embattled chairmen of Local Government Areas in the state have joined the APC for immediate proceedings of impeachment of the Governor.
It would be recalled that the Amaewule- led Assembly had extended the tenure of the LGA chairmen by six months,a decision legal luminaries say is unconstitutional and brash.
Again, the Amaewule-led legislature is facing legitimacy issues as a court had earlier ordered their seats vacant .
