Okuama Tragedy: DHQs Declares 8 Persons Wanted

The Nigerian Headquarters has declared eight persons wanted in connection with the killing of 17 soldiers on March 14,2024 in Okuama community in Ughelli South,Delta State.

Those wanted included a Professor and a woman.

The soldiers including a Lt col, two Majors and a captain were on a peace mission in the community when they were brutally murdered with vital body parts removed.

On Wednesday, ( Yesterday) their remains were committed to mother earth at the Military Cemetery in Abuja with the President, Bola Tinubu in attendance as the Special Guest of Honour.

In his speech, the president gave hope to the military and members of the bereaved families in the award of posthumous national award to the deceased, award of scholarship to their children and housing to their families

In addition , the president urged the military to expedite payment of benefits of the fallen soldiers to their families.

Tinubu had also assured the families that the killers of the “noble soldiers” would be brought to justice.

Earlier, the Chief of Defence Staff and Chief of Army Staff, General Christopher Musa and Major – General Taoreed Lagbaja respectively in their separate remarks, said that the murderers will be hunted down and made to pay for their crime.

As though matching words with action, the Defence Headquarters has declared eight persons wanted in connection with the crime barely 24 hours of burial of the deceased soldiers.
