
The recently installed airfield ground lighting system at the domestic runway of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport ( MMIA) in Lagos has been stolen.
The Director, Public Affairs and Consumer Protection, Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria, (FAAN )Yakubu Funtua, , told BBC that the agency has commenced investigation on the issue
While assuring that those behind the theft would be made to face the full wrath of the law,Funtau said that FAAN would block all loopholes to prevent a future occurrence.
The essence of the runway lights is to ensure visibility and safety of flights and at night
The runway was reopened for 24 hours flight after the successful installation of the ground lights in November 2022.
