The Chief Justice of Nigeria,( CJN). Justice Ibrahim Tanko Muhammed has resigned his office citing health challenges.
His resignation followed lingering dispute between the Chief Justice and Justices of the Supreme Court.
The development creates a space for the next in line, the most senior Justice to be sworn in as the CJN. This is because succession in the Supreme Court is governed by a tradition . The most senior Justice is sworn in in a situation of retirement or resignation.
