The Nigerian Immigration Service ( NIS) on Sunday disclosed that Mr Ukpo Nwamini David, the victim of the Ekweremadu’s alleged organ harvesting is 22 years old and was issued valid Nigerian International Passport.
The Comptroller General of the NIS,, Isah Idris Jere disclosed this to newsmen on Sunday in Abuja.
According to him, David applied for the International Passport using the Service Portal after which “he visited the Immigration Office in Gwagwalada with his birth certificate issued by the National Population Commission, National Identification Number ( NIN) and a letter of indigineship from Ebonyi State Liaison Office confirming he is from the state “
Jere said the NIS works in partnership with relevant government agencies for purpose of information and documentation adding that it followed due process in issuing the international passport to David.
He said all information at the NIS ‘s disposal provided by David indicate that he was born on October 12,2000.
NIS ‘s affirmation of the true age of David contradicts the report by the London Metropolitan Police avering that David is a 15 year old boy.
Last Thursday, the Metro Police arrested Senator Ike Ekweremadu and his wife, Beatrice on arrival in London and charged the couple for conspiracy bordering on organ harvesting.
The couple were denied bail by the Uxbridge Magistrate Court and remanded in custody until July 7 when trial will resume.
