Gov Umahi confirms defection to APC gives reasons for leaving PDP
Ebonyi State governor,Dave Umahi has confirmed his defection to the All Progressives Congress APC.
The Governor who disclosed this to newsmen in Abakaliki the Ebony State Capital in Monday said he has no regrets whatsoever in joining the APC.
Umahi said his defection to the ruling party was as a result of injustice meted out to the South East by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
The governor debunked speculation that he defected to the APC as a result of the PDP’s refusal to zone the Presidency to him describing such speculations as mischievous.
He argued that “even If PDP promises him a presidential ticket,it would not work as over 8000 delegates would elect the person and such promise can not happen without more than 10 or 20 people.”
Umahi disclosed that he joined the APC not because he was promised any position and there was no such discussion adding that he defected to the APC to protest the injustice being done to the South East by the PDP since 1988 till date.
The Governor said his movement to the APC would not make him to castigate the PDP and wished that the PDP would in equity and fairness zone the Presidency to the region and zone.
The governor further disclosed that he had yet not indicated interest for the Presidency said he would throw his weight behind any one from the region who goes for the number one job
