No fewer than 150 Boko Haram terrorists and family members belonging to Abubakar Shekau’s camp in the Sambisa forest have died from an outbreak of Cholera
Current matters gathered that the condition of over 500 others is critical and in need of urgent medical attention.
It was further learnt that the disease might spread beyond the make-shift habitation of the terrorist as some of them especially women and children affected have moved to nearby communites and IDP camps in search of medications.
Cholera is a bacterial disease which causes severe diarrhoea and dehydration and spreads through contaminated food and water. Health experts say it is fatal if not treated right away through the services of medical professionals.
According to reports, the disease invaded the camps of the terrorists about a week ago taking women, children and young fighters as victims inflicting severe symptoms on them such as diarrhoea, leg cramps, dehydration, septic shock and death as reports indicated that leaders of the sect are seriously in a state of confusion as to where to get medicine for the large number of people who are sick.
The continued aeriel bombardment of the Nigerian Military at Boko Haram terrorists enclaves are also said to have added to the burden of the Insurgents as migration to safer places enhanced the spread of the disease.
There is the need for communites and government to be alert so as to quickly contain it before it becomes a bigger problem for the nation.
