The war against bandits in the North West appears to be yielding results following sustained military offensive against bandits.
The Nigerian Army troops on Thursday in Katsina, killed a bandit, arrested informants and recovered rustled cows.
Brigadier General Bernard Onyeuko, The Acting Director, Defence Media Operation in a statement said the troops deployed in Batsari local government area of Katsina State on August 5 foiled a coordinated bandits attack on residents of Zamfarawa Kagara village in the state.
According to him, the bandits were met with fire power of the troops when they invaded the village and stole several cows, leading to the killing of one bandit while others escaped with gunshot wounds
He said all the rustled cows have been successfully recovered and handed over to their owners while a suspected bandit informant,Rabiu Salisu is in custody following credible information of his nefarious activities with bandits in the area.
The Army spokesman said that troops deployed at the FOB Bagega arrested two bandits collaborators,Sani Sani and Sani Abubakar,who were reported to be specialist in selling of cows and other items stolen by bandits adding that they were arrested while butchering a cow for sale and had on interrogation, confessed to collecting it from the bandits.
