Three men convicted for the kidnap and murder of a 32year old Lawyer, Sampson Worlu, have been sentenced to death by hanging by a Port Harcourt High Court which sat on Tuesday.
The men,Chinwendu Alozie, Wilfred Jumbo and Gift Amadi were tried for kidnapping
conspiracy to commit murder and murder.
The convicts were arrested in 2016 following an investigation conducted by the Department State Services after the family of late Worku reported the matter.
The Presiding Judge, Chinwendu Worgu,who convicted the three men, said evidence provided by the prosecution team was overwhelming and the confessional statements by the accused were weighty enough and the Court relied on them to deliver the judgement adding that the Court was convinced that they were guilty and the law has to take its course.
The Judgement was seen as justice to the family of the deceased who regretted that the kidnappers despite collecting N1million ransom from the family killed the deceased who was on National Youth Service Corps NYSC Programme in Imo State.
