An Abeokuta Magistrate Court in Isabo,Ogun State, on Thursday sentenced a 47 year old Man to three years iin prison for impersonation.
The fake lawyer,Omotola Ayokanmi was sentenced by the Magistrate,Folake Ogundele after he pleaded guilty to a charge of impersonation.
The Prosecutor, Fortune Akhengor, had told the court that the defendant committed the offence on July,16 at a Federal High Court, Abeokuta where he unlawfully presented himself as
legal practitioner thereby contravening section 484 of the criminal law of Ogun State
According to him, the convict went ahead to move an application for bail for a matter he appeared in as a counsel at the Federal High Court in Abeokuta
He said the judge found fault in his address to the court which made the judge to interogate him.
The convict later confessed that he only had a diploma in law and had never been called to the Bar.
He said that he had been using his wife’s gown and has been practicing since 2007
He said the wife was called to bar since 2006,but not practicing
However the convict was sentenced without an option of fine.
